how can i test for blowby? can gas in the oil hurt anything? my car doesnt smoke or anything. anything i can do to fix it w/o rebuilding it if i have blowby?

You need to do a leakdown test to see how long each cylinder holds compression and what the compression is in each cylinder.

Why do you think you have blowby? Does it use oil? Blue smoke?

Blowby is caused by worn rings/pistons/cylinder walls. You can rebuild it or by a can of that STP gunk that makes your oil super thick and ruins the bearings but slows down blowby. Those are the only options

Oh yeah, gas in the oil dilutes the oil, causes low oil pressure and ruins bearings. Why do you think gas is in the oil?

it doesnt smoke or anything. i checked the oil level and got it on my fingers and im not sure if its diluted or not. i let my grandpa smell it and he said it smells like gas but he is also 90 years old and said oil doesnt smell. my oil pressure at idle when hot is around 15-17 psi id say. the guage doesnt have each individual number on it. just a 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 with lines midway between each. the needle stays in between the first midline and 25 psi at hot idle. jack cotton said thats good pressure. its always been like that. when i first got the car it had 150-160 psi per cyl. and 4%-7% leakdown per cylinder but ive detonated a few times since then.

Why did you get knock?

It sounds like you are looking for piece of mind, so I would do another leakdown test. If you oil level is not going up and the car is not pig rich I would not worry about it.

i had bad/leaky stock injectors. took it to a local tuning friend who couldnt get the BLMs below 160. said the injectors were bad. the car would audibly knock at 15 lbs. it didnt sound like knock but more like someone cocking a gun. i got some 50's and a chip custom burned by a friend and it runs great and all the BLM numbers and such look good. what about the oil level? it leaks about a 1-1.5 inch diameter spot of oil from the rear main area after sitting over nite. oil level is right in the middle of the dipstick. i changed the oil probably a month aro and filled it to the top of the dipstick i think.
