Alright, well I keep blowing the ac fuse on my 86. It has happened twice in the past two days. I don't mind not having the A/C , but the fuse takes the power master along with it. What should I check? I have a bad walbro 340 in the tank that makes funny noises and won't put out more than 52#s of pressure at WOT could this be putting a strain on my electrical system, blowing the fuse? Any help would be great. thanks a lot.

Did a search and came up with this thread. I'm having the same issue with my car. Everytime I turn the A/C on it blows the fuse. If someone knows the fix or where to start troubleshooting please help.

Thanks

Does it blow the fuse when it's on vent? There's a schematic on gnttype under electrical called fusebox and bulkhead. Look at the a/c fuse and see what's connected to it. I learned this trick this weekend: unplug everything that is on that circuit and then plug one thing back in at a time. The guilty party should pop the fuse. Rig up a DVM so you can see it while under the hood. When it goes to 0, you know the fuse popped. Good luck, this is time consuming.

On Vent the fuse is fine and it dosen't blow. It only blows when it is on Max or Normal. Thanks

fuses

i worked on a tr that did that, look at the diode on the compresor plug. i bet the small leads are rubbing together. just pull them back apart slowly. pat

Thanks for the information guys! I'll check the plug on the compressor. More opnions please, keep em coming

On the blower motor there is a relay that inside. Try to switch it out with a buddy and see what happens.

Same thing happened to my car. The blower motor worked fine, we also did a few other things to it. Now the air blows only out of the defrost, and it's not cold. My air used to work, untill it started getting hot out. :)

Buy some fuses, then work your way from front of car to back. Pull ac clutch wire. Blown fuseY/N? if No , pull blow motor wire pack. Y/N? If no , pull control head wires, no blown fuse then check wires from head to: relay, ac clutch, blower, for a pinch to ground.
GL:eek:  :D
