Body color?

I have a friend who has a body shop. he called me today and told me he had a customer thaat has an 84 gn that hes going to paint.
he needs to know what color the fire wall is supposed to be.

Is it supposed to be body color or satin black? Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.

I've restored a few Regals and the firewall is body color. Depending on the year it was just painted the base color,no clear coat. I have only seen the clear coat done on 87's built on the Pontiac MI assembly line but that does not mean they didn't do it on the other years. Also the floor pan was painted body color as well, this is just on the greasy side as the inside was coated in some type of galvinized body sealer. IMO it looks better if you clear it.
