Boost And Knock?

I noticed, my boost @ 1st Gear, dosnt pull that hard (some knock), As soon as it hits second gear it pulls hard. Then on a second run @ 1st gear, just under full throttle, 17psi pulls harder than FULL THROTTLE....

? Too much boost in 1st gear, or do u need race gas.
everything is within spec, 02s a little rich.
