i authored an old post entitled " stupid question about tsm ". i got some recent responses about some guys being afraid to run the required 24 psi of boost, and some guys being afraid to run more than 20 psi, for fear of entering the D.O.Y.C. club. at what point do you have to worry? if you're not getting any knock shouldn't you be ok? at what psi should you consider stronger caps or a girdle? my race chip is set up for 23 psi boost and 23/21 degrees of timing. i took it for a test blast and had o2's in the 750's and no knock. going to atco on thurs. and praying to crack the 11's. by the way running a 50/50 mix of c-16 and sunoco 94. let me know what you think about my questions. thanks.

Detonation kills many more motors than cylinder pressure induced crank flex. If you are not detonating the engine, you should be fine. When you start running high boost (> 25 on a stock bottom end in my book), you should try to get the O2s in the high .7s to low .8s. A very TR smart man once told me, "Leaner is meaner, but you might not get to race tomorrow." Oh, I noticed you are running a race/pump gas mix..........DON'T! Put straight C16, or whatever brand you like. Just make sure it has plenty of octane.
