If im not using the GN dash do I need the boost solenoid that bolts to the pass valve cover? What else does it do?

The boost solenoid controls the boost. If you don't have some other means of controlling the boost you do need it.

Now if I put a boost controller between the turbo and the solenoid will that trick it into seeing what I want it to see or should I just adjust the wastegate rod and be done with it.

All it does is bleed off the signal going to the actuator, increasing the boost. Disconnecting it will actually lower the boost. I run a hose from the turbo to the wastegate. The ECM has no way of reading boost, the chip has a duty cycle written in it to guess an increase. It is a guess. Turning in the wastegate rod can cause overboost, and the ECM can not take boost away. Just because a chip has a boost level written on it, it doesn't mean it will automatically make that boost.

I knew the boost wasnt computer controlled. I guess my question is when I turn the fuel up and adjust the wastegate, is their anything else needed to be done. Ive got a scanmaster so my eyes will be glued to that and my TT chip is on its way, just want to double check everything before I melt down my new motor.
