i know that brakes have a LOT to do w/my question but for the time being assume my brakes are in good working order. APPROX. how much boost should i be able to hold at the line w/a 3k stall converter and a ta-49?

I could hold around 5 with a stock turbo and converter with the bugger S-10 rear wheel cylinders

If the brake are good, you should be able to hold about 10 psi.

The trick is to hold 5, then rapidly floor it, then release the brakes. You can get the boost to spike to 10 or so before the brakes are released.

I learned the hard way that the newer(thicker) the drums are the better it can hold the power even if the brakes otherwise seem fine.

with stock everything including brakes i could hold 10-12 psi of boost at the line before the tires would spin...stock turbo and converter with stock brake setup...its harder to do that now with the te-44 turbo ;) i can get about 5-7 lbs now...the trick is to do what was mentioned earlier...build the boost up to 5 lbs and keep it steady...then when the light goes floor it really quick and THEN let off the brakes...also hold down the brake pedal as HARD as you can before launching...

will my boost holding/building ability at the line be enhanced in any way by the 3K stall converter?

If you go with an Extender chip you can get a full blown launch assist strategy.

Or if you go with doing your own chips, and read thru things to figure it out you can do a quasi launch assist. With some careful tweaking, 15 PSI is possible, but to get that, means tayloring everything to your exact combo..

please elaborate how these 2 launch assist features work. luckily i can have customs chips burnt for my specific combo but my friend who does it lives 25 miles away so maybe and extender/T+/LT1 MAF would be helpful in tuning in my location but who knows. i dont got the money for it yet.
