Just bought a Borla cat back system for my GN from the Nats and was wondering if anyone else is running it and if it is a good system for these cars. It is stock size but with Borla mufflers and their tips, it is also totally stainless. Any info appreciated. Are these good for HP also??

Thanks

BORLA?

I didn't think they offered a cat back for our cars... I have submitted a R&D request several times on their website...how much was it? How does it fit? What size is the pipe?

Borla?

Got a pic of it? Borla makes quality exaust systems and now for Turbo Buicks? Does it have chambered mufflers or straigh through mufflers?

It was used only for a couple of months and then the owner returned everything to stock to sell the car. I bought it off of a vendor at the Nats while he was still unloading his truck for $175, he was asking $200. It is the stock size- 2 1/4 and the mufflers are straight through and it has the Borla finned tips.

Also it fits very good but the only difference is that it goes straight out the back. It went up fairly easy and only took about 30 minutes.

A friend told me Borla made exaust systems for 85-88 Monte Carlos. And the tip exists out through the back of the bumpers.

BORLA...

I guess you could buy the custom kit and make it yourself...I have always wanted a borla exhaust for my 87 GN, I love the sound and their quality is great!!! I think we should all as TB.com memeber go and submit the R&D requests...then when they get 2000 of them at one time, maybe something will click... Lets go do it guys! www.borla.com

according to their website they don't have one for the 80's monte carlo SS either..

Maybe awhile back they made them? My friend had a 88 SS and had a bolt on Borla system, with those famous tips. But I could be wrong maybe it was just the tips? My the original owner told him its a Borla system

Their Web site appears to be for more current cars. They don't have Merkur XR4Ti's listed either and every one of those I've ever seen had a Borla exhaust on it.

They use to make a cat-back for our cars. I had one on a car that i bought and i still had the SUMMIT invoice I think it was from 1992. The pipes came straight out and it had the tips on the ends.

I know you can buy those Borla tips seperately and weld them to any system. They are spendy though at about $100+ each.

I called Borla and the rep said that they didn't make a catback for the GN. (That was around a year ago)

No drone, it's pretty quiet actually but it sounds good when you give it some gas. This one does exit out the back

As of around '89 you could get them from Borla. I know a guy that got them at that time. They were 2 1/4" mandrel bent and exited out the rear. They sounded nice with no droan. He ran those up to around 500 hp, until he went stage 2.

I had the Borla setup years ago. I modified it to exit out the side behind the wheel since I didn't like the straight-out-the-back look. I removed it cause I didn't like the sound. It droned and was too loud. I ran 13.3@103 thru it with an otherwise basically stock car (even the 215 Eagle GTs) and race gas.
