i hate it too!

now there are going to be even more cars out there faster than mine. before i only had to worry about the Z06 and a cobra mustang. now the gto, and the c6. i'm excited to see what the c6 zo6 will do next year when it comes out. should be quick!

they are good looking cars. they do look a lot like a grand am, but then again so does a grand prix, and a boneville, and the g6 every pontiac car looks the same.

has anyone heard the rumors of pontiac coming out with a 06 gto judge thats going to have the ls7 in it?

I just got back from a test drive. WOW. Sure was nice to sit in a car that has power and a comfortable seat. The salesman said that they are going to have a paint and apperance 'Judge' package but the drivetrain will remain the same. Could you imagine changine the front and rear. Putting the trishield badge on it and call it a Buick. Using the GN name would be a little much but a another bad Buick is needed, IMO.

I am a Ford guy (as my dad rolls in his grave) but the GTO is one of the best things I think GM has done in ages. You expect them to make the vette everything all the time, but the GTO is like the GN of the new mellinium. While is doesn't scream in style, it is nice looking and will catch people with their pants down I am sure.

Great looking car and I hope your wife is amply happy with you for such a great present.

I think you are right jpratt. This thing would be a great platform for a new GN, but only with a new generation turbo V-6 in it to continue the mystique.

LS1. Tremec. Dana. The car sux. Ugly. Slow. A disgrace to the original Goat. Really. Hate it. Please hate it. Above all, DO NOT drive one.

Tks 2quick. BTW I am enjoying the PTS Strip/Strip trans you guys built for my GN.

The 2005 GTO has the LS2 Motor 400HP 400ftlb TRQ .

When I bought my GN in 1986 I had 21 goats(real goats) on my farm. The car was less than a week old. I bought a car cover for it.
The goats got out of their pen and thought the GN was a big rock and were walking all over the car one morning. I feaked out.

If you're going to label a newer car as the GN of the new Millenium, I would have to say it's the Cobras. Limited production, two model years, FI from the factory, absolute animals with little mods, etc.

Regardless, the GTO is a cool car. The styling isn't my bag, but that's just personal preference. And as far as the comment about Ford bastardizing an old design... I agree. Only problem with bashing them by saying it's not original is the fact that the GTO is hardly setting the design world on fire. After all, GM just stole from the Aussies what amounts to the look of a large Cavalier.

Awesome car! I've had my 6-sp 04 Goat since March of last year. Most of the critics who don't like it are the "retro" types who expected it to look like a 60's model. I think the retro thing has gone too far on some cars - who wants to go backwards on the looks:confused: Absolute best interior ever from GM. While it's not the fastest car in my stable by any means and it will never hold a candle to any of my Buicks, it is one hell of a "Total Package" that won't break the bank. Anything that can run low 13's out of the box and get 27-28mpg on the highway is OK in my book - a lot better mileage than my dually!! Since Buick is still embarassed of the GNs, I'll support Pontiac for now. This is also the longest I have ever left a car stock - this thing should be hell when I figure out where to put those turbos! I may take the easy way out and go with Magnuson's new blower. If I do run across anything the Goat can't handle, there's always a few TR's out in the shop for my HEAVY work;)

Peace

As the owner of an 04 Goat (Barby Blue M6), an 87 GN and an 87 T, I can only agree.

The rest of you jerks, please keeping saying it sucks. Louder! So GM can hear it!

yeah keep getting more appealing to me everyday! seeing more and more on the road...

too bad they are way out of price range!

Those seats do not resemble mine. The side controls are different also. Maybe the 04's had that style.

Great car, but any way you do the math thier $30,000+++, not to mention the 800-1100 a year for Insurance!!! Thats GNX Money!!!

Think I'll stick to the classic cars and CHEAP daily beater late 90's Crown Vics!!!

I road tested one yesterday, a silver m6 05, nice car and drove very nice, did not get into much but I did like the car, with my GM discount thru my brother who works for Buick I can get the car for the price of
30,243.00, I will check on insurance today and go from there.I'm afraid the insurance will be a killer! and will have to pass.

Hmmm insurance a killer? Wow. Are they erring high on this one? Seems like it wouldn't be something the kids are crashing and burning out the gate. I guess then it comes down to whether it is theft prone and how much damage it ends up taking in a hit.

I have one of those fliers that goes over the various models and their ratings in those categories. I'll get it out when I get home and take a look. It's from Liberty Mutual.

I dunno if the snouts on the hood are really necessary for me. I'm sure the LS1 models are dirt cheap now. I've seen a few of them still sitting on the lot at the dealer near my house. I can't say it would be bad to get one either. There are only a million mods for the LS1 powerplant out there right now.

Still that LS2 sounds like a mean machine. I'll have to test drive one.

A buddy at work has a 2004 GTO, and a guy backed into him in a parking lot, tore up the passenger door all the way to the back bumper. It was in the shop for almost a month waiting for parts, some from Austrailia. The GM shop told him that many of them were getting wrecked and parts were hard to get, he guessed because older people are buying them and are not used to the power they are producing....maybe the reason for the high insurance.

Insurance isn't high for me. Its cheaper than my WS6 or TTA was for that matter. And this car MSRP is higher than both of those cars.
