Hey guys i have a 85 GN and I was just wondering if you could put a blow off valve on these cars? I just want the sound or maybe will it do somthing for me? Please let me know thanks

Since the Turbo connects direcly into the intake, it would be near impossible to put one in unless you have an IC conversion, or have a Intercooler kit for your car, because there is only about a 2" cast aluminum adaptor from the turbo to intake to mount it on, and there is a very small amount of room. Don't waste your time.

I tried once, it didnt work properly, instead of opening when you released the throttle, it opened at full boost, sounded MEAN, but wasn't doing its work at all. Removed it the next morning.

Alright well how much work would it be to put in that IC that you have? Were would you really put one if you wanted to? I dont understand why I couldent I dotn care if it dosent work i just want the sound haha

Well, I've got a Spearco FMIC kit, I welded it on the lower pipe coming from the intercooler, but the sound it made wasn't what you usually hear on a WRX or EVO, It opened with boost instead of vaccum, I dont know why but I asked a mechanic with years of experience on these cars and he said that he hasnt been able to use one on this type of cars. Feel free to try, but try not to spend a lot of $$. I took mine out almost right away.

Thats crazy, Were do you think i could put on on this car being a hot air car? could i put it in my Cold Air intake tub? or what woudl that do?

Guys, you really need to do a search, I've answered this exact question 4 times on this board. The BOV will not work with even an intercooled hotair. The throttlebody is before the turbo so there is no compressed air slamming against a closed throttlebody like on the 86-87 cars, only vacuum. I run a BOV because I've relocated the throttlebody to the pressure side of things.

See, in other words, dont do it, cool 84 just gave the exact reasons and in my case I learned the hard way.

Use that money anywhere else but keep it on your Buick.
