Not to start a huge debate or anything, but i was wondering if i need a blow off valve? My mods are in the sig and im about to install alchy. I'm not trying to ruin my turbo...

Need, no. I have had my TE-44 for about 4 years with over 100 11 & 12 second passes and I run 21# of boost on the street.

The BOV´s are mostly for manual cars. BUT, I´d say that if Your uppipe keeps popping off after WOT blasts, then it´s time for a BOV (if the hoses are fresh and nothing´s wrong to the pipes).

Will my turbo last as long? I mean i love the sound of the turbo sneezing and air getting thrown back out the air filter but is it healthy?

I've seen no ill effect to the turbo without one on automatic cars. I think I've abused my turbo as much as possible and don't believe I've even seen a failure related to not using a BOV

You dont need one, but i put one on my TR, it works

Think of it more like this

A blow off costs around $275 after you buy it, the flange and have it welded on your pipe, even more if its an HKS SSQ. A turbo rebuild is around $350 and I have yet to hear any of the turbo specialists say that they have rebuilt a turbo due to the backpressure after the TB closing on a GN.

Save your dough, most guys end up upgrading turbo's every two years anyways so no worries.

Please answer these question.

You go up on the highway under full WOT and have to let off the boost as there are some cars up ahead. You here a large POOF and the car runs like crap or dies. What happened? The up-pipe just popped, even though You´ve got new hoses and good clamps.

Why is this? I´ve seen it a couple of times on different cars without a BOV.

SO, what would happen if You´d get a larger turbo and/or raise the boost?

What´s the purpose with the BOV?

Will it save the turbo? It will atleast take out the stress on the bearings because of the backpressure.
