I have mine aimed at the fire wall, on my IC up pipe to TB. I was not looking for noise, and I want it clean, no debris into port. Mine will crack open just a little after a shift, at part throttle. I was trying to calm some compressor surge, and improve drivability. I had a few spots my car did not like. I still do. Of course it opens after big boost.

I guess my MAF is a little off, and my car may run rich for a split second, I don't care. My car runs so much smoother in traffic. Before, I had to jab at throttle, then let off, back on, etc in traffic. Now I can cruise without air bouncing around in my IC system. I still have a small bad zone, but much better. Oh well, that's the price for a big turbo and IC trying to act like a "normal" car.

If you recycle the air back in to the intake pipe (right after the MAF) you shouldn't have the rich problem. Since the a/f has already been mixed by MAF and you are blowing some of the air out of the mix.
Hope I made sence

I know. I have a FAST system going in one day, no MAF then. I have a couple of different Turbosmart BOVs, they have a port made for recycling. I have that. Hook up a hose the size of a horse dick to recirculate. Not interested because the MAF gets ignored when you let off anyway.

i run a BOV with out the recycling, works fine. with the defco function in the PCM you dont need to recycle

Well do you think that would fix his short rich condition. I mean if It's rich for a second and you just dumped a lot of air and no fuel wouldn't it make sence to not dump the air anymore?

long story....I have been thru four turbos on my current GN. Stock, TE61, then TE61 with a .85 turbine housing, then a TE67, then a T70. I now have experienced compressor surge for the first time with the 70. Other turbos on other TRs have been the old 44, and a PT 52(RIP). The T70 makes my car go bang-bang at part throttle. I'm off to the left of the compressor map, and the volume of air between turbo and TB gets pulses of boost bouncing around in there. Sometimes my tranny would bounce from 2-3-2-3. BOV helped. I'm happy. end of story.
