Good morning trans gurus. I was wondering if any of you have had experience with BowTieOverdrives TV cable system. I picked up their TV braided cable setup and installed their spring and cable when I had the trans rebuilt and put back in the car. I've read (and re-read) their instructions on how to set it up. I have their throttle plate and TV cam installed. How did you set up the initial tension vs WOT? I'm still looking around for a pressure gauge so I can watch the pressure when adjusting for idle. But once that's set how do you adjust again for WOT as that would directly affect your idle setting. Confusing. The reason I mention specifically that it's a braided cable is because on that type there is no spring type lock (such as the factory adjustment) it's a threaded rod with two nuts to make the adjustment.

My setup is:
- 200-4r (naturally)
- BTO braided TV cable
- BTO TV spring installed
- Holley SA 670 carb w/BTO base plate and cams installed

I appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks,
Kevin

Should have gone with the other cable. If it was me I would switch. It takes 2 seconds to adjust, push the green button, push the cable all the way back and push the peddle to the floor. All done.

Bowtie used to have good phone help also. Just give them a call.

From what I read on the Cable setup link, it gives the initial setting & preload pressure setting. That should be very close, then you'll have to check pressures at idle & 1500rpm in all gear ranges & adjust the cable tension to fine tune the pressure readings. Here's about the cheapest Pressure Gauge setup I've found.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
ATD Tools 5550 Automatic Transmission and Engine Oil Pressure Gauge Kit

The gauge worked out great - thanks for the advice. It's too bad shops don't rent them out and they have to be purchased. The link you sent me for a gauge was nice in that they send a bunch of fittings that allows you to extend it out from the trans and down so it's easier to install the hose. I guess $40 more on a $1200 build (minus remove/install labor) is good insurance to get the TV cable set right. Next time I'd go with the automatic one to make the process much easier.

I installed the gauge - disconnected the TV cable and then set it so that it had only a 1-2psi increase when connected (reading was just under 75psi) and then tightened up the cable nuts. When I throttled it the pressure would rise immediately. I tood it for a short ride and the shift points felt great. I'll take their instructions with me this spring when I get the car out and fine-tune it but now it's pretty close.

Thanks for the help!

Kevin
