After watching the last "American Hot Rod" it seems that Boyd has a lot of anger for Chip Foose. All I can gather from the show is that Boyd and Foose were partners at one time and things went south. Does anybody know what happened between these two great builders?

Chip used to work for Boyd. IMO, the reason Boyd even got on the map, was because of Chip. Needless to say when part of your meal ticket walks, it's going to be one of two ways.

Not to mention the show seems to be a *Soap Opera*, at times.

Chip builds cars, Boyd bolts some pre fabbed parts together.

I'm sure it happened when Boyd went bankrupt a few years ago. You'll put up with an A-hole as long as he's paying you, but when the money stops coming...

Chip has to much talent to be working for anyone other than himself on his own terms. IMO

Here is what happened between Foose and Boyd.

The story goes that around the time Boyd's business was peaking he went public. Boyd found himself having to be accountable to shareholders and didn't like it.

Boyd began hiding things from shareholders and that's called embezelment. Foose did not want any part of what was going on and left. In the process a few of Boyd's people left to join Foose.

To add insult to injury an old customer of Boyd's brings his Hot Rod to Foose for a refurbish. Foose completely changes the car and it beats a Boys entry at a prestigious Hot Rod show.

The fact that Foose started building/selling his own wheels etc. offended Boyd as well.

If you ask me Boyd has made his business look like a circus. If I had that kind of money floating around I would go to Rad Rides By Troy. I cannot believe the poor image that show depicts of Boyd's business. Shows me he is more concerned with $$ and ego than he is about being a true craftsman.

Watching American Hot Rod vs. something like Rides or Overhaulin you see how much Chip actually does compared to Boyd. While he doesn't do everything, Chip has a significant role in the building process. To me it seems like Boyd draws a picture and leaves it to his goons to finish.

After watching a few of his shows I know Boyd is not the type of person I would do business with if I had that kind of money to spend. He seems to arrogant and smartass towards people,he just doesn't seem genuine to me.

They name streets after BOYD. ONE WAY.

While true Boyd is probably too old to help out on building cars.
He probably has his hands full with the business end of it.

I too can understand why Boyd doesn't invest more $$ in help & his paint shop.

Longer deadlines too.

As for Chip he was smart to leave. He saw the flaws of how Boyd was doing things & a potential to go on his own. Seems like people are dying to work with CHIP.

If I was to have a GN MAKOVER. I would want CHIP doing it as long as he did not put a SBC in it.

Overhauling is the best car show on TV and Chip is the reason, the guy is simply a GENIOUS.

I don't know nothing bout the fued but I know if I were an employees of Boyd's I would walk too..the guy's an arrogant prick and it doesn't look like he does much of anything anymore. His crew is not exactly something to brag about either:rolleyes:

Ouch, lol :D

Big climactic scene... Charley leaves Boyd to work for Chip. Boyd's mad, Charlie's sad, and Boyd's wife is spilling tears

Either all the anger, tears, etc were an act or we're dealing with a group of attention whores so twisted that they'll let their actual personal lives play out on TV.

Sad.

a lot of the drama is forced, the producers look for it and exploit it and play it up.

it makes for "compelling viewing"

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

I would cry to if charlie left he was the only one that has skills. Not to put down chip but his designs are so eighties with the weird paint and grapics on everything. I really liked when they fired up the mustang and overheated it. Then could fiqure out why the paint didnt stick....DA. All these shows going around makes me see who are builders...foose,troy T.,Jesse james. And the bolt on crews...Boyd,O.C.C. The best show I saw was Rides when that little guy with the weird voice and his crew did that 56 ford pickup. They had skills with steel that I hadent seen before.
