Well, im looking to up the anty with my buick. My 200r4 is built and performs very nicely with my current setup. However, over the winter i have plans to make a lot more power (it never ends ). I would rather sell this trans to someone with a mildly built buick instead of destroying it with tons of power. :)

I have a drag race prepared chevy th350 in my 82 chevy c-10 street truck with a 3500 converter built by Monster Transmissions in Florida. The trans was built for over 800hp and tq, which i may reach with my plans.

Do you guys have any thoughts about using this chevy th350 in a buick with a BPO Engine-to-Chevy Trans adapter plate? I would like to use the one out of my truck instead of sourcing and building a totally new one. Would save me a lot of money and time, which could be spent elsewhere.

I would avoid the adapter plate if possible. Id go for an Ultrabell anyway. If you are building that much of a killer you will need the ultrabell and the current one will be cut off anyway. Actually your current one should have the chevy ultrabell if it was built for 800hp/torque so you could sell that and bolt on the BOP piece. The new one appear to be chevy and bop.

So you would suggest changing out the bellhousing rather than using an adapter plate?

Whats wrong with using the plate? I beleive you, just explain.

My explanation is that you are planning on making enough power to break the 200 then you are probably planning on running well into the 9's and the Ultrabell is a good option since you would have to either buy the adapter or switch cases. I would go with the bell. Its stronger and safer and less of a hassle once its bolted to the case. You will need an SFI spec flywheel and balancer/damper as well as a shield over the trans if you plan on running with 800hp/tq at the strip.

Model 92452 is the one i would need right?

I was also worried about how the starter would line up with the flywheel if there was another 1/8" gap between the motor and trans by using the adapter plate....

Thats it. Id call before buying just to be sure your not thrown any curve balls though.

There's no issue with starters lining up after using an adapter. I have run many. The good adapters come with spacers for the torque converter and a bushing to center it into the crank. The flywheel doesn't move.

youd better add a hd direct drum and 38 element sprag assembly and billet input shaft to that 350 or your going to break them as soon as you turn up the power.

I assumed the trans already had those items since it was built for 800 hp/tq:biggrin:
