My car has AN stainless hoses for everything and my question is how do I make sure they are put together correctly. I am asking because I had the lower oil cooler line come apart and spray oil all over. It basically came apart at the fitting. The braided line came off the fitting. I have loosened the fitting pushed the line back onto it and tightened it back up, but I have a little leak from it.

I would like to know how they are supposed to be installed so I don't have another failure I was lucky with the oil I don't want to even think about a fuel line do this.

in all my years I have not seen an end come off, BUT with out looking @ it I would say that either the lower part of the fitting is cracked or you are not getting the hose all the way up into the fitting. if it came apart you should cut the hose back about 1.5" & start over with end.

earls performance sells hose tester kits. just a plug that has a schrader valve that you can use to pressurize the lines before installation. Also, it is good habit to mark a white or yellow line right behind the fitting collar so that during routine inspection, if you happen to notice the line has moved from the collar the fitting end is beginng to fail.

I have been building AN style hoses for over 30 years and have NEVER had one fail. No way to check the hose/fitting to verify they did it right. Best way is to build them yourself and then you KNOW they are right. I don't trust ANYONE to make parts for me. Airplanes have taught me that. AN hose.s are simple to fabricate. Do it on your own and KNOW it's right.

I put the oil line back together but now it has a slight leak. How are you supposed to put them together? I have heard of them coming apart not often though. There was a guy who lost his car to a fuel line coming apart on Yellowbullet. I just don't want anything like that myself.
