Somewhere I read that B Body calipers will bolt on to our spindles. Is this true and is it a viable cheap upgrade untill I get the money saved up for better brakes ?? Oh, if they do work, what year ???

I dont see what differance it would make to use the break calipers from a B body. I just completed the conversion on my 86' GN using the parts from a 1999 camaro only thing I had to manufacture was the mounting bracket. Theres a post within the last 45 days that has pictures showing the conversion, manufacturing the bracket was not too bad. I was able to download the picture of the bracket and took the angles on the picture and dimension and put it into our autocat system and it gave me an exact blue print of the bracket which made it alot easier to cut. The whole conversion does take some work and machining, you have to remove the spindels and you will need to cut the rotors and spindels, as you'll see in the post. But the differance using the 99' camaro breaks set-up is excellant and well worth it, the car is more controllable and stops on a dime. The price to do the conversion was not too bad right around 2-3 hundred dollars depending on where you get your parts.

Can you send me the Autocad drawing if you don't mind? I would like to use it to make my own for my GN. Thanks, Ed buickturboperformance@yahoo.com

Seeing as how I'm not a machinist, I'd like someone to step up and offer a service and make these brackets. I've seen all the posts on the MCSS site. Oh and could you please send me whatever I need to give to a machinist here. Put " Brake Bracket Drawings " in the subject. fordracer@houston.rr.com or turbobob@houston.rr.com . Thanks

:D

I think we are talking about the same thing, but there was a guy on the other site (ends with an "S") in the forsale section selling homemade brackets. Very reasonable (twenty some bucks) made from 1/4 or 5/16 in steel. He was doing only a limited rum of them, but demand seemed good so maybe he'll make some more.

Hey 6shot, where did you get the parts from? Did you get part numbers and get new part? I've been wanting to find a donor car for this conversion, but can't find anything remotely close in the local yards.
