Brake light help!!

I'm having an issue with my brake lights. At first, I had no brake lights, even the third light in the window. Checked all fuses in fuse box. All are good. Replaced brake light switch, now only the thrid brake light works. When I turn on the lights, the rear lights come on as they are supposed to. I have both left and right turn signals and emergency flashers. Just no rear brake lights. I checked the harness connection in the trunk. I have power from the brake light switch to the harness. I have not got into the harness from there yet.... ran out of time. Checked bulbs, all are good. Any suggestions are apprecitated....

On the brake switch

Pin B is orange and always hot.
Pin C is light blue w/black stripe and supplies power to the third brake light.
Pin A is white and supplies power to the main brake lights via the hazard/turn switch.
If your turn signals work I would check to make sure you have voltage on brake switch pin A. If you do it sounds like you might have a bad hazard/turn switch.

could be the turn signal switch in the steering column. thats what was wrong with my car about 10 years ago. the signal goes up thru the column then back down and to the rear of the car

Well, I checked the wires as described. I have Power to all three wires. Still no brake lights. Let me appologize in advance for my ignorance with electrical. (Never have been good at it). If I my hazzard flashers and both turn signals are working properly, why is it then, my brake lights do not work if there is power to that circuit? Turn signal/flasher switch. Just trying to understand electrical....

i recently had a alarm installed in my car,and on my way home no tail lights....

i took it back to the installer and he found a black ground wire underneath the dash that had been tied into my knock gauge and he resecured it and wala rear tail lights once again....

and by the it was the same with me all running lights worked but no brake lights...

the turn signal hazard switch distributes the power from the brake switch. That's most likely why your other lights work and not the brakelights.

Well, before I purchased a new turnsignal switch assembly... I checked the connector at the steering shaft under the dash. I found the first white wire at the connector had come out. I repaired the connection and now I have brake lights. Thanks for the help......

That white wire thing is a common problem with these cars....I'm suprised no one mentioned that.....hey, wait a minute...even I didn't mention it. Oh well, glad you found the problem and fixed it....there's nothing like satisfaction in solving the problem before anyone else does....good job.
