Brake light on 94 Regal GS

I have a 94 Regal GS and the brake light came on a few weeks back and the it would go out after I restarted the car later that day. Now it stays on all the time. Brakes seem fine. What would cause the brake light to come on. Any ideas what to look for would be appreciated.

Naturally, make sure you have released the parking brake fully! That, of course, will make the light come on. Next, of course, check for leaks in the braking system. Perhaps a slower leak like a wheel cylinder or something may have set the switch off.

Does this car have ABS?? It's very possible that something with the ABS system has failed, although it should light the "ABS" light, it may not. Did you brake hard or anything like that?? Does the "ABS" light come on as a test when you first start the car? Also, try applying the parking brake then releasing it and seeing if the bulb gets brighter or dimmer.

Anybody else have ideas.. want to chime in?

Parking brake off, abs light goes out. Just the damn brake light stays on.
