what would cuase this, brakes stick (obviously), pedal stays at floor, light is on. if you pull the pedal back up, the brakes release, but the light stays on, can this be a pump problem?

If the pedal goes all the way to the floor, the master cylinder
failed or there is a leak in the brake system causing fluid loss.

How does the brake fluid look?

pedal is firm, no leaks

it is funny, it even feels as if it is boosted? maybe i should change the switch. the fluid is not too bad.

NICKG,
Do I understand you correctly?
When you push the brake pedal, and then release it,
it will not return to the released position unless you
pull it back up with your hand?

If that's the case, then I would have to believe there's
a problem in the master cylinder. There is a return spring
inside the master, that pushes the brake pedal back to
the released position. Maybe a problem with that spring,
or more likely some kind of binding or dragging inside the
master that won't allow the spring to do it's job.

Swollen seals or corrosion maybe?
Did it happen suddenly, or progressively?
Kind of a strange problem dude, never heard that one before.
Did someone accidentally put the wrong fluid in there?
