Brake warning light in dash on intermitently& Brake lights stay on also

My brake warning light in the dash goes on intermitently when I press the brakes, and the brake lights stay on sometimes after I shut the car off. Brake pedal feels ok, and they work fine. What kind of problems can I look forward to? Powermaster on its way out? Need an new accumulator? Any help would be appreciated.

Not necessarily.
I had a problem with an intermittent brake warning light last fall, just before I put my GN away for the winter. I was all set to buy a new accumulator this spring when I rolled it out of storage but I figured I would check the connection on top of the brake switch. Sure enough, there was a bad connection.
Saved myself some cash.

The odds he has the same connector lose??Hmmm maybe he should play the big game .

Accumulator:)

Re: Odds of same connector?

No flames but it happened to me too. A little dielectric grease is an inexpensive attempt.

When mine started doing that the switch was spitting the fluid right out the top. It was the old switch that was recalled, but it happened to me before the recall and GM dealer screwed me on that deal. Had to drive it home holding the emergancy lever out and using the emergency brake only, skills and stupidity, but it worked.

Finally replaced my accumulator, and the warning light in the dash is off, but the damn brake lights still stay on pretty much all the time. Brake switch bad? Is there a switch on the pedal assembly also? Or just on the brake reservoir? Any help would be appreciated.

It could be your brake switch attached to the brake pedal is out of adjustment causing your brake lights to stay on. Look under there and see if the switch is partially depressed when your pedal is in the up position. If that's not it, I'd suspect the brake switch under the dash may be bad.

Did the dummy light come on all the time on and off?

The reason I am asking is I seem to get the brake dummy light just when I initially fire the car up and begin driving. After I have been driving around for a bit I don't get it anymore.

Was yours the same?

The dummy light would go on everytime I stepped on the brake before I replaced the accumulator, now its gone. But the brake lights are still sticking on. Its getting annoying.

I just started having this problem. What is the accumulator? I have a spare powermaster setup thank god. I saw on another post that the accumulator ball is $100+.
