I just had my 200R4 rebuilt by a local guy. It has the 1-2 red band, super servo, hardened input, drum and a transgo reprogramming kit. The converter is a stock D5. I can not get the shift points down without pulling the TV cable out far too many clicks. Following the well known procedure puts the 1-2 shift at close to 3,500rpm at 30+ mph.
I've taken the TV out far enough to bring the shift down to 3,000rpm at 24mph, but I know that is still too high and I'm starting to get nervous about the TV setting. The TV cable is less than a year old, and the mechanic pulled the valve body to check for a sticking valve. Any other suggestions as to the culprit?

Thanks,
Tim

DO YOU HAVE THE CORRECT VALVE BODY AND GOVERNOR?IF YOU DO SUSPECT A LEAK IN THE GOVERNOR OIL UPSHIFT CIRCUIT ,OR TOO MUCH MODULATED THROTTLE VALVE OIL PRESSURE.IF THIS IS THE CAS YOU SHOULD GET PASSING GEAR TOO EASY EVEN AT HI GOVERNOR / DRIVESHAFT RPM SPEEDS.TRY CLIPPING ONE COIL OFF AT A TIME FROM THE TV LIMIT VALVE AND SEE IF YOU CAN ARRIVE WHERE YOU WANT TO BE.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. The valve body and governor are original. The mechanic put the TV upshift spring that wasn't in the 200R4s back in to see if it would change anything, and, of course, no change. I will have him cut a coil at a time off the TV limit spring and see where that puts us.
Someone e-mailed me with a response and I inadvertantly deleted it in a mass purge session. My apologies, would appreciate it if you could send it again.

Thanks,
Tim

ps - Had a great track experience last night. Running a heads-up, 12.0 class with a pro light. Final test and tune before eliminations. Just finished a 45 minute delay for an oil spill. I cut a good light, strong 1-2 shift and just when I hit 3rd I've got a huge smoke screen behind me. I shut it down, get off the track, watch the two track techies argue whether I laid down oil or tranny fluid over a 1/16th mile of the track. They decide it's tranny fluid, so I'm bummed, get back to the pits, look under the hood at a huge oil mess, no oil in the crank case! Turns out my oil pressure sending unit sprung a MASSIVE leak. A temporary plug and 4 qts of 20-50 and I'm good to make a sneak exit back home, meanwhile the announcer is telling the crowd how fortunate it is that the spill is tranny fluid and not oil! Oh well.
