Hello, I was trying to install 3" THDP today on my stock turbo and the very first bolt that I tried to remove for the stock elbow broke off. Any thoughts on the best way to remove these? I did not want to keep trying the other three bolts as I was afraid they would all break off. Should I really be thinking new turbo.

Just bought a used turbo with a bolt broken off. I soaked mine w/ WD40 for a few days and used a BIG breaker bar- came right off. The other one w/ the broken bolt, I couldn't get it out- had to take it to a machine shop. I guess the're hardend bolts.

New turbo or old , dont matter they still break from time to time , my only advice is dont use Stainless steel they are almost impossible to drill , i once drilled it and it didnt go as planned so i opened it up and threaded it for the next size bolt . ive had good luck with the black oxide coated hex head bolts like Sears hardware carries or a good hardware store , dont know what kind of steel they use but i guess its compatiable with the temps and metal . Good luck curse and throw a wrench for me
