I just bought an 86 Buick Chasis Manual off of EBay. Loads of information and diagrams. In the Regal section it list different VIN number for certain components. I know that the GN's are VIN 7. But what are these

Turbo VIN 9
V8 VIN Y
VIN A

What other Regal had a Turbo in 86 that wasnt a VIN 7? Aren't all T-Types VIN 7?

I made 2 copies of the manual, one in a Regal only spiral bound and the other loose leaf for easier faxing and handling. Over 150 pages of diagrams and troubleshooting charts. I love it.

That is an early version of the manual you have there.
VINs:9-hot air turbo,Y-307 Olds V-8,A-231 NA 2 barrel V-6.
All G-body motors.

According to legend, the intercooler was supposed to be an option for 86. That is why the hot air code 9 shows up. It is also listed in the parts books for 1986. Budget constraints kicked in and the engineers were told they could only have one turbo engine for the Regal.

SO it is almost a pick and choose book? I mean lots of things are similar and some are not between the hot and I/C. Most in cabin stuff should be the same right?
