Buick guy gets thrown in jail.........

OK, I don't mean to hijack a thread here but I had a run in with the local PD here today and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I notice this officer pull in behind me and was no big deal. I just maintained my speed and minded my P's & Q's. At the next light he pulls up next to me and says: "Nice license frame." (Mustang, it's what's for dinner.) so I say thanx. Thinking that he is a cool guy and just doing a job that gets little respect from most people until they need them, I decided to joke around a little. I looked over and just said "So, we going on green or what?". He suddenly freaks out and tells me to pull over into this parking lot ahead. He then makes me get out of my car and starts reading me the riot act and telling me that he could cite my for inciting a street race. I just appologized and he ran my license and registration and all then finally let me go. Because of this crap my lunch break that is normally a half an hour turned into an hour and I got read the riot act again by my boss. Oh well, some people have no sense of humor.

Man don't be so ignorant.. Car load of thugs are probably the preferred stop... I cannot see where you get the Cops vs Law abiding citizens stance.. That is not reality.. This case however may be an example of the minority of what cops are out there.. But hey you and everyone have a right to thier own opinion but I assure you that yours may be a bit off base.

After reading the thread all I have to say is BS. I dont believe a word of it. I don't know of any judges or magistrates that would sign a warrant for that type of "concealed weapon". So in order for the story to be true:
1 You would have to have a cop without ANY legal training
2 You would also have to have a judge and or magistrate without any legal training
3 Officers do not hang around other officers that are screwing up. they get in their cars and go to lunch.Preferably on the radio.
4 A group of cops generally wont show up on a traffic stop UNLESS its a very serious offense.
5 No supervisor would let that go that far,and around here a supervisor would show up on a call of that type pretty quickly.

Just a BS post from somebody playing games.If you really believe him ask for the warrant/report number and get a copy for yourself(its public record) Bet you wont find it or it will be a LITTLE bit different of a story.

UNGN, your right on that ****. I don't live in a town with a pop under 1,000. Those BillyBob's do as they please and usually dirty as hell. Let only a few select$$$$ get away and they rest are ****ed with hard. I saw first hand some of thier justice in a little place called (LA) Lagrunge,NC. I aint talken out of my ass. I saw a man bet his wife half to death and the mayor's son got off. Nothing. The POPO told the woman if she wanted to be safe, she better move.

I can speak first hand of the cops in LA. After living in Texas all of my life and making numerous trips to New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Vinton...I can tell you that they will pull over a car with Texas plates just for $hits and giggles. "No reason, just felt like it" was the response I got when I questioned the guy.

On another trip we went with a friend that was a Sheriff in one of the local Parish areas (they don't have county districts, they call them Parishes). They pulled him over for speeding, found out he was a cop and chilled out. Asked for my driver's license, noticed that it said TEXAS on it and flipped out. Pulled me out of the car, patted me down (I kinda liked it, it was a female cop), and then went into my luggage and had all the contents tossed over my buddies hood. They found nothing, and left. No "have a nice day", "drive safe", not even an "FU". They just stopped what they were doing and drove off.

Most of the cops I've dealt with were cool. But it seems like the bad ones stick together. It's a shame thats all we hear about. To be fair to our fellow turbo officers we should tell some good stories too.

When I was 16 had an instance while driving my moms car and got pulled doing 65 in a 35. Had the car on cruise control. The officer let me slide because he didnt want me to lose my ride so soon. He even gave me some advice. Don't speed going straight through a small town. I think of that situation every time I come up to that still small town.

Wish I met with some of those 'cool' cops...

Going through Adirondack park in NY (no one lives within 20 miles of where I was driving) I got clocked for 72 in a 55. I knew my speedo was off by a little, but had no idea it was at least 10mph off.

Officer stops me, says the usual "do you know how fast you were going?" and then returns to his car. He comes back asking what kind of engine I have in the Buick (307), and says it sounds like a real muscle car (I had a Flowmaster 80 series put on last summer), and that the car is in great shape. Says "that must not be the original engine then, huh?" We then discussed the various engine options available on all Regals, especially TRs. After all this, and not having ever been pulled over once before, he still gives me the ticket. oh well...he was still ok.

He then proceeds to snag the very next car that went by...must've been time to meet their quotas or something.

This story doesn't surprise me at all. You don't have to go to New Orleans to receive this type of treatment. It is universal. Instead of hasseling the crooks, it's safer to mess with the average law abiding citizen. The courts are just as bad. It's all about the money and the cops are their dupes.

Oh, I've had my share of the ****. In HS I had a 84 H/O with tinted windows and I was headed home one day. See a buddy of mine who was pulled over by a StateTrooper. As I go by I wave at my friend but the trooper thought I was waving goodbuy to him. He pulls me and tells me that I was not wearing my seatbelt a moment ago. Total BS. Being 16 and broke I didn't fight it. I did get a little revenge though. Ended up banging his daughter in the backseat 2 yrs latter. Buckle up, we dont need to be pulled do we?

Here in Birmingham, Ala, reverse racism is a problem. No im not imagining it. Its happened to me, and two other friends. No need to hash out the details.
Another problem. My 71 gto is a drop top with no lap belts. The dumbasses dont even know this and will pull you over for it. They have pulled over my buddy twice in his 69 gto. Maybe its time for law abiding citizens to burn down thier neighborhoods , and yes, they do extract money from the working joe, while avoiding real crime.

http://www.newromesucks.com I saw this on 20/20 once a while back. I know where this is and used to drive through it for 9 months while I literally lived around the corner running TX plates. I never got pulled over but some of the stories here are entertaining and a little chilling.

DAMN! That is BS.. I would avoid that place myself.. The minute there is bias or possible fudiciary gains at the hands of officers opens the door for potential issues. Especially there..

Point taken on this but I would still have to say it is the minority.

Ok, yes I too even have a story, did not happen to me directly but my brother..

The deal was my mother was dying of cancer in NC. At the time I was working for an agency in Central NC on the 6p-6a shift. I got a call from my brother (history of screwing up) who was enroute to see my mother from Florida, from a jail in GA and he said he was arrested for driving while license revoked. I said ok let me talk to the deputy. I did ID myself as a cop and wanted to understand the situation. He said that he stopped my brother for 72 in a 55 and his license was revoked and it was a $900 bond.. I said ok will be there. So I went home, got the cash and hit the 5 hour journey. When I got there I went to the jail and spoke with the deputy. He said "Your brother does NOT need to come back". In fact he kinda encouraged him not to return.

Me - "Did you arrest him?"
Dep - "yes"
Me- So this is a surety bond so he will come to court?
dep- Since he is out of state he does not have to come back
Me- I find it hard to beleive that you arrested him, I give you money and we do not return, his priviledge in GA and license in FLA is revoked.. At least that is the way it works in the interstate compact..
dep -"you just need to get going and do not return"

So I got a receipt, mentioned a few choice words under my breath and proceeded to get my brother back on his way.
Court time came and both of us showed up.. and believe it or not, the judge was not there because it was cotton season and he was in the fields. (TRUE STORY!)

Well I went up to a public defender and was asking him about the situation, especially the issue surrounding not showing up for court.
He said " If your brother did not show up he would have had a warrant and license/priviledge revoked and given up the 900 bond.." I was pissed at this point.
My brother and I went up to the prosecuter and he wound up dropping the revoked charge and reduced the speeding to like 64 in a 55 and wound up being 110.00. At that point the "Deputy shows up and had a look of surprise on his face. I guess he was not expecting me to show up. I started walking over to him to clarify his inconsistencies of his story and he retreated to some room I could not go.
Then the actual sheriff shows up.. (6'4 450lbs, REDNECK)
Being really aggitated at this point I went up to him, identified myself as an NC Officer, and started explaining the situation to him. He even agreed when I asked him about the "if my brother did not show up scenario." I then started to push the buttons.. I said "That being the case sir, why is your deputy telling me and my brother NOT TO COME BACK" Does that not sound a little odd to you sir?, " my bombardment of questions lasted about 45 sec until Jabba the Hut interrupted. "This is not NC boy and you and your brother need to leave the county right now or you can stay a while".. Enough said on myside, I got in my car and hauled ass out.

Upon my return to NC I went to the local FBI office and apparently this issue was not new news in GA and there were ACTIVE investigations which I added to. never found out of the outcome but it definetly smelled bad. Think about it.. 20 Cars a day off 95 with $900.00 bond each....with maybe 10% returning for court.. Quite the lucrative deal.

So I am not saying it does not happen, but everyone needs NOT to assume that if there is a uniform, there is corruption.. There are cases out there like the one I described that are questionable.. The New Rome is definetly questionable...But these I would say are isolated..

Three of the most corrupt people that I knew in HS went on to become deputies. I'm just waiting for the day that I see them on the news and that they were invovled in this and that.

I went to high school with an A hole that later became a Houston cop. Everyone hated the turd growing up. Five or so years after graduating from high school and becoming a cop...he was busted for having sex in his patrol car, lewd act with a minor, possession of a controlled substance, civic abuse, bribe taking, and about a dozen other things. It turned out the IAD had been watching him and several others from day one of the complaints.

My Mom called me and faxed the article to my office...I must have laughed for an hour looking at his pathetic picture at the top of the page. Best of all, you know what they do to bad cops in the joint?
