Buick... time to sell?

Very seriously thinking about selling my Buick, all it's done for the last 5+ years is collect dust & unfortunately, with the space program being used for political games my job is not very secure right now. Hate to do it, I've really been looking forward to building some of the same wonderful memories I've got of "car time with daddy" with my own son... but my inner responsible adult is screaming that it's time to let it go...

Kiddo just turned 4 which puts him at the same age I was when my Dad started taking me out for cruises in his '69 GS California... some of my fondest childhood memories are associated with those drives, the backroads destinations we visited in that car & "helping" when my Dad was wrenching on it.

My inner grown-up is saying use the money from selling the T to buffer our savings because my job may very well be victimized by the political games being played by the current administration with NASA & more specifically JSC.

I would say . . . . . If you own it, drop the insurance/ stop the bleeding, and keep it for another year.
With your faith, things will have a way of working out ............ unless of course, you want to sell. Just my $0.02. :wink:

Black & dusty YEP... but not my car unless someone stole it, took some parts off, drove around Hwy 6, put parts back & snuck it into in my garage again.

The T isn't costing me aything but frustration, so I guess I can afford to let it continue collecting dust for now.

I am right there with you. I have had my GN for many years now and now I have a 2 year old son. My car has been in the garage with a cover over it since he was born. It is covered in dust. I can count on one hand the number of times I have driven it since he was born. I told myself I would never sell it but for the first time i actually thought about it. Then I slapped myself across the face and woke up. It's paid for so I am going to hold on for it for as long as I can. BUT....If I ever get into the situation where I need the money then I wouldn't hesitate for a second to provide for the family.

Only you can make the decision and pull the trigger on the sale. Me, if it is paid for and not sucking money, why not just leave it and see. Market is low, poor time to liquidate. You are employed and housed. You said it yourself, the times shared with cars as a backdrop are golden.

I say keep it but this is from a guy that has one sitting in a pasture next to his GS and neither have been roadworthy this decade. Chastise me as the earth reclaims them. I will drive them 'some day' but my children will always come first.
