Checking the possibility of installing the Buick V6 Longblock with the 200-4R bolted-up to it in one "cherry-pick" shot?

Some Questions come to mind:
-----------------------------------
1. I will have the radiator & Dual Fan installed - will this create an issue for me?
2. If I install the front cover assembly - will this "clear" or should I install afterwards?
3. I plan to leave the hood on, simply disconnect the gas shocks to open the hood "more" vertical.
4. The Intake Manifold & Upper Plenum - will these "clear" or should I install afterwards?
5. Is it safe to connect my "lift chain" to the heads - namely the exhaust manifold bolt holes?
----------------------------------
Appreciate all feedback.

Many Thanks !!!

Install the engine as complete as you can. It will make life a lot easier for you that way then trying to put some of the components on after the engine is in the car. The only things i left off mine was the coil pack/ignition module to prevent damage happening to them, power steering pump which i left the lines hooked up and never removed from the car,and the exhaust crossover pipe. Once you get the engine almost ready to sit down on the motor mount brackets you can put a floor jack under the engine with something covering the plate of the jack so the engine can't drop down and then you can hook up the starter wires, if you have a mini starter you won't have to do this.

I would remove the radiator and fans for safety so they don't get damaged by mistake.

I connect the lift chain to the intake bolts, front passenger side and rear driver side.

How's this for a cherry pick

Thanks.

I plan to leave the radiator & dual fan assembly installed as it is now.

Hence, will the Longblock + 200-4R "clear" or should I leave the front cover off JIC?

Anyone been there before?

Again - thanks and I appreciate all input.

Here is a pic using exhaust manifold bolts. I did have to remove the front bumper and lift up front end for clearence. (Notice jack stand dead center of frame.) A long chain helps to get the engine in place.

Must be nice! My engine/trans must go in in pieces and come out in pieces.

pull the radiator and fans out- not because you need the room, but to assure that you don't accidentaly break them.. it's like a 5 minute job to remove them..

a Buick V6 is pretty short compared to the something like a 350 Chev- and those slide right into G bodies fully dressed except for headers.

I would not leave the rad in or the fan. Your just playing with fire. Try saving you some cursing. Otherwise it will clear but your going to have to jack up the front end. I've only removed the bumper when doing a v8 on a gbody. It you want to keep the rad in you better take the bumper off. That motor will swing forward after you lift it up and be heading toward that rad.

What does removing the front bumper have to do with keeping the radiator in ?

He probably removed the bumper so the engine hoist could slide in more. Just a guess.

It dosnt take more then two mins to take out or put in the rad so no point in risking something so delicate. The hood has to come off, if you open more vertical then the corners will hit the cowl. Unbolting the shocks dsnt do enough and its still very tight with out a trans attached. Id say spend an extra 20 mins to unbolt and remove these before you spend a month fixing/repairing them.

Pull the hood and radiator and fans. Removing the hood gives you way more light and you dont wack your head on it plus you will hit it with the hoist. Draw a line around the hinges so they line back up. Get an engine tilter. That makes a world differance when installing engine with trans attached
