No actually none of them are turboed, but the guy from turbols1.com was at the event and got all these passes on video.... The one 4th gen LT1 Camaro that ran 9.40 @141mph and went up in smoke at the top of the traps does have a YS trim supercharger and it was featured in GMHTP not too long ago (the guys name is Chris Sikora)......
As far as the smoke at the traps I don't know whether they popped a HG or if it's something else (maybe they were on the brakes because they didn't want to break out in a bracket race)
Why would they have belt problems if he's running a Cogged drive belt setup I thought that setup was supposed to eliminate all of the belt breakage and slippage problems??
I also really don't understand why he didn't build that LTx motor with a turbo setup...... He could have just used a single 88mm turbo or even one of the new GT-Q 76mm turbos because they are good for around 1000-1100hp from what I heard..... No belt problems at all and capable of making the same if not more power and it wouldn't put any stress on the crank..... He should have asked White Racing about the badass single turbo (76mm turbo) LT1 motor they built for a certain Impala SS!!!
Wow that is a really nice turbo setup that guy has on his LT1! Tell Sikora to dump the Vortech SC and go with a turbo setup like that so he can have that 8 second LTx motor title he wants I doubt he will do it, but I hope he gets that badass 4th gen LTx Camaro of his in the 8's cause it is a very nice well built car (no corners cut, it has all of the best stuff)......
please remember --- chris's car has never been launched hard... it's always been eased into. If the belt issue gets resolved it will be an 8 second car.
