I am running a 2600 stall and blue top injectors(Are these 42lbs? ) What are the avantages with the te60 or ta49 and is it better to get the A/R .82 housing? Thanks Scott

I would buy a TE60 with a .63 housing. I had a TE60 with a garrett .63 exhaust housing with a 2400 stall and it was a very fun street and strip car. Instant spoolup. The most I pushed my TE60 to was low 11's at 119 mph at 24 psi boost.

The TA49 is a stock appearing turbo with a two piece inlet bell. The inlet on the TE60 is cast into the compressor housing and I think the 60 has a little bit larger compressor housing than the 49.

The bigger exhaust housing might get you some more mph in the quarter but if this is a street driven car you will be very happy with the smaller .63 housing for all better spoolup and fun on the street.

You might want to consider buying bigger injectors too. I think the blue tops were 36lb. injectors. When I had the TE60 I was running 60lb motrons. That will give you a little room to grow if you want.

I guess it really depends on your goals and your budget.

Just my $.02.

A 49 would do better with 2600 stall converter. Had a 60 on my car last summer with alky at about 21 lbs pulled like mad, but I had a 2800 stall.

ta49

both are good turbos, I went 11.5@117 with ta49 ported irons, 60inj, fmic, etc. now going bigger!

i have to agree with 86TR, i say go with the 60, and when your ready, upgrade those injectors.(60lbs) You will be happy with that turbo right out of the gate and you will have a little more room to grow. i ran a TE60 on my stock converter and it was still a blast. if you upgrade the turbo and injectors, be sure to save room for a TTchip.. Blue Top are 36lbs. to me it just makes sense in the long run.... just my .02$.

Why would you buy an old technology turbo when the new ones are barely more $$, make more power and spool faster?

A Billet 58/57 or 60/57 will MASSACRE both of the turbos you are looking to buy and allow you to grow into for future goals.
