I Plan on gettin a Nova after my GN.. things are sweet.. and like he said easy to work on

That is a nice Nova man. I know your pain about the $. It really blows. But sometimes you just have to go on and do what you think is right at the time.

X3. Novas are great cars, have a '69 2 door myself..looks like yours is either a '71 or a '72 model. Also easier to find parts for. I think you made a good trade up.

Good trade!!! If I found a SS just as clean I would have done the same thing.

I've had several Novas over the years. The last one, a 72 SS, I bracket raced for about 8 years. Loved the car. Great lines and always will be a classic. Good trade.

Nice Nova! And it was originally a big block car!!

hello people; Good luck with the new car. The Nova's I like are the boxy ones like 65? 64? before GM did that fast back thing to them. Anyway I like all SS cars.

Not if it's a '71 or '72; they stopped putting big blocks in Novas at the factory in '70. Also it's way too easy to clone an SS Nova unless it's a '72 and has a "K" as the 5th digit of the vin which denotes the SS only engine, an L48 350. Otherwise a build sheet is the only way to tell. HTH

It doesn't look like a 71-72, and I didn't read in the post that it was.

Take a close look at wherre the heater lines enter the heater assy. That's a big block entry point. Small block cars had the heater hoses entering a completely different place, but I'm sure you noticed that.

I've seen hundreds of Novas over the years, and twice as many SS clones. The one thing that I've noticed with the small block units cloned to a big block is they ALL seem to forget the heater hose entry points.

But you're right, it definately does not appear to be an original SS, but..... there's not enough pictures to tell. If it's a clone, somebody went to a lot of trouble changing out the complete heater core/blower assy.

ss or not it is a 454 bb...that think is nice and a blast to drive..i Miss the sweat noice of my turbo spooiling at wot..sounds like no other car..but this car at wot makes ur ears pooop..loud as hell...solid body no rust any were...so how can i tell if is a real ss??is a 72 vin # 1X27F2W318086...So i dont know if is a real ss or not.but the think is a beast..

I know what you mean, the BBC cars had the heater outlets dead center of thebloer box, SBC cars had them off to the side on the firewall. It's hard to tell in the pics if there's even a blower box and not just a metal cover over the hole. BTW the boxes interchange.

On 72 models the 5th digit denotes it....seeing yours is an "F", that means your car was originally a Chevy 307 V8 car. In '72 the only engine for a Nova SS was the L48 350 V8 vin code "K". So in other words your car is a cloned SS. However still I think you did a good job. Enjoy!
