Cam break in from factory?

When our cars were built did they break in the cams at the factory or just drive them off the assembly line? How did that work? Thanks, R.B.
 
I don't know about our engines specifically but I know that some GM engine plants would fire each engine using a natural gas and air mixture, that way the fuel system remains dry and only the ignition was used. Some form of minimal break in was done on every engine before it ever got near a car. This was in the late 80's I was told that by a GM assembly plant engineer.
 
i find it hard to beleive that they break in every engine at the factory. anyone else?:D
