If you have stock engine - idle air screw still covered let's say, and you install a performance cam such as many of you all have, what does it do to the iac & tps? I figure you probably would have to change the settings but can you guys tell me how it would run?I know this may be a silly question but I'm troubleshooting my chevy truck and need verification before tearing into it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Gee!! Did I ask such a dumb question no one took the time to reply!!

Good question. With a cam change the engine may not pull as much vacuum so you may see the IAC numbers change a bit while the ecm is trying to maintain the commanded idle in the chip.

TPS shouldn't change at all since its a mechanical setting controlled by the 2 set screws holding it in place on the tb. So, as long as thats not disturbed during cam installation the TPS values will be the same and won't need any adjustment.

Now that being said, if the IAC numbers are way out after cam install and you have to adjust the minimum air screw to get them back in range then you will need to reset the TPS as any change with the min. air screw will change the TPS settings.

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE. i HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET INFO C0NCERNING MY TRUCK FOR A WHILE NOW.SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS. SOMEONE CHANGED IT AND I CAN'T FIND THE CAPS LOCK (NEW COMPUTER). ANYWAY, NONOS38 POSTED THIS MORNING AND GOT A RESPONSE THAT GAVE A SITE THAT WILL HELP. MY QUESTION WAS TWO FOLD, I HAD A CAM INSTALLED IN MY 90 CHEVY P\U AND THEN GOT A CHIP FROM JET BUT IT STILL IS NOT JUST RIGHT,( THEN AGAIN WHEN COMPARED TO THE GN EVERYTHING SEEMS SLOW ) sINCE THE P\U HAS AIAC VALVE & A TPS I FIGURED THEY WOULD HAVE TO BE RESET. THE TPS IS NON-ADJUSTABLE UNLES YOU FILE OUT THE MOUNTING HOLES. I SAW WHERE CASPERS SELLS A GIZMO THAT HOOKS ONTO THE TPS AND INCREASES THE VOLTAGE TO 5 VOLTS. NOW I AM CONFUSED. THE SECOND FOLD OF THE QUESTION PERTAINED TO A GN I AM BUYING NEXT WEEK, IT HAS BEEN MODIFIED A LOT, MOTOR CONVERTER ETC. AND STILL HAS THE COVER ON THE AIR ADJUST SCREW LIKE IT HAS NEVER BEEN ADJUSTED,CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THE EFFECTS TO ME? SORRY SO LONG, HOPE I'M PLAIN ENOUGH!!
