I just broke the tab on the reluctor off my second cam sensor. The engine has around 500 miles on a fresh rebuild but I can't drive the car because as soon as the car is under any load it shears the tab off the reluctor. On my first cam sensor I tried welding a new tab on the reluctor but it got sheared off as well and the second cam sensor just sheared the tab off but when I went to loosen the screw for the reluctor the philps head sheared off  Now I have another new cam sensor but what good will it do me if it shears the tab off the reluctor too?

What is causing the tab on the reluctor to keep shearing off ?

On the cam sensor, the tab is plastic, and the reluctor is a steel cup? Are you sure your talking about the cam sensor? Even if it breaks while the car is running, it would stay running also.

Now if your talking crank sensor, then you need to set it at .028
