I just replaced the cam sensor on my car with a Caspers cap. The light never lights even when rotated 360 degrees. I have 10.9 volts on the power wire. I have 6 volts on the trigger or signal wire all when it approaches the cut out spot in the interupter ring. A concern of mine is even when the cap is completely removed from the sensor shaft the LED never lights and signal wire still has 6 volts. While the cam sensor is on a solid part of the interupter ring voltage goes close to battery voltage or 11 volts. I have used my original ignition module and bought an adapter to 86/87 and tested with another ignition module. I am out of ideas???????

1984 Buick T Type only modifications are caspers cap and small camshaft kit.

Well, either the LED is bad (or the connection is) or the inside of the cap is bad.

Sounds to me like a bad cap, honestly. You should have near 0v with the cap plugged in, but removed.

But I should add that your spark is fed off of the crank sensor. While it is true, the ECM needs the cam sensor to start the car, once it is started the cam sensor is used to time the injectors for SFI.

I hope the cap is not bad as it just came out of the package 5 minutes before putting on the car. This is possible I guess I can contact Caspers Electronics and see if they test them. I will try to one fo my other two stock caps see if I get same results

If I'm not mistaken, the cap should light when removed from the base to simulate the interruptor window being in the right position. As long as the contacts are interrupted, the LED should be off.
