I'm just about exhausted with my GN after spending every day off plus any free time the last year doing a body off on it. I spent a TON of money on it and even though the bottom is show quality the top/interior/motor all look like crap..the car needs Paint bad. I'm getting married in June and looking at a house now. I really don't have the time to finish this car the way I want to, but I need a toy that I can be proud of in the mean time. I'm not planing on selling the Gn ever, but I figure the 800 a month I have been spending on the Gn I can buy a new ZL1 to enjoy now instead of always dreaming about the Gn being done. I really want to get into road racing for fun non competitively and I think the Z will be an all around fun toy. What do you guys think of the Z?

Keep the GN and get a Miata for the road course - you can always put an LSX motor in the Miata if you get bored with it...

They are nice, I've even thought of getting a 6 banger with the V8 hood... 300 HP is fine for a DD

Let me clarify what I said. From what I have read and seen about the ZL1, it is one badass car. You wont find many cars you can take to a road course and or drag strip and with a click of a button have factory launch control, traction control and shock settings. You are also talking about a car that will put down 500 hp ( give or take ) to the wheels with a factory warranty, cruise control, air conditioning and a nice ride to boot. It really looks to be the whole package. I am not sure about the new Mustang with 650hp, I doubt the price will be the same as the Camaro. And I can certainly make up the 70 hp difference with a pulley change, alky injection and a good tune. Just my 2 cents.

Why not wait for the 13's and you can get a REAL hp monster that will kill the ZL1. Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500, will be laying down 600+ hp, and easilly capable of 200mph!!

I am waiting for 13' regardless but never really been a mustang guy. Let's see what the gt500 price comes in at.

I think they've already said the new GT500 will next to impossible to get your hands on, at least initally.

I like the sound of the ZL1. Been thinking about it myself:) You can bet they will be pricey with the dealer markups!
