I've been through numerous trannies in the few years I've owned my 87 GN. I never tore one up in my 85 GN in the 3 or so years I owned it and it had a few mods. I currently have my 85 tranny in my 87 and it is slipping from first to second. It was rebuilt a few years ago with a wider 2nd gear band and a shift kit with a tranny cooler. Could a bad cable cause this? The t.v. cable seems fine, it's the shifter cable I'm worried about. Thanks.

With a stock shifter it'd be pretty difficult to have it misadjusted bad enough to position the manual valve between gears. Not likely.
