I know Casper's device is out there for starting a car with a dead sensor. Is there a programming change that can be made where a "get-me-home" chip could somehow get the car running in batch-mode and get me going again?

It's not the batch mode, it's knowing which cylinder to fire the plug in next. I can't think of any good way (can think of a couple of bad ways, but, well, they're bad ... :-)) to do this.

Would bruce's new quick start modification allow the car to run without the cam sensor. That is what made me think of it. If the ignition module could figure out how to fire without the cam sensor info, would the ECM provide fuel?

The quick start thing isn't a big deal to me but the ability to add redundancy in case of a failure on top of it starts to sound pretty cool.
