In the past week my steering column has come loose. I have searched the forum and was ready to follow the step by step process found in an old post. The issue I have (that I didnt the last time I drove it) I noticed when backing the car out, I put it into R and noticed the steering wheel/column bounce up and down. When I though it was in R the car went forward. The shifter actually feels like it is out of line. Almost feels like I only have the ability to put the car in N 3 2 1. It is a 1986 GN and the transmission is rebuilt without issues 2 days ago driving. I ask because when I kept shifting the car to find a great the column/wheel bounced up and down and I am assuming the loose column may somehow have caused the shifter to be off. I did not see anyone post loose steering columns with this symptom. Any ideas? Do I need to go beyond the posted instructions to repair the loose column (from El Camino board posted here) Thanks for any input.
