I am going to need a shortblock built and I am looking for a reputable engine builder. I haven't lived in this area all that long so I am not sure where to take it. I would be willing to travel to St Louis, KC or Tulsa if needed. Thanks

Steve

There is a guy in the Claremore/Tulsa area that has built a bunch of buick stuff...even a stage II motor...

He is a firefighter and does the machine shop thing on his days off...

He's built 2 of my short blocks...

His name is Dicus Benton 918-688-4143

HTH's!

You need to come to me. I work at Precision Performance in Bartlesville, OK. Its about 40 miles north of Tulsa. My Boss has over 30 years experiance of building winning NHRA level engines in stock and super stock, and we have over thirty NHRA class win trophies. We build our engines around the same principles learned building NRHA stock and super stock level motors, where you have to make more horsepower than the other guy using stock parts and making it live. we can handle any level of a rebuild you need, but we dont half ass stuff. We will align hone, block true deck, bore and hone with a torque plate everything that we do to get rid of the factory junk. Most shops only do it to stock specs and we take it to the next level. I ve rebuilt the motor in my buick(read sig) so we do know what were are doing with a buick. So just give us a call and we can discuss exactly what it is that you are wanting from this car and get you going in the right direction.

I wasn't trying to imply that my car or engine is any faster than than anyone else's, in fact my motor is little more than a ho hum stock rebuild, in fact thats all I intended to be. my point is that in building NHRA stock/super stock motors you learn to get the most horsepower out of stock parts( any brand) and make them live you have truly arrived at a perfect engine. when you add aftermarket parts, bigger turbos. injectors, etc. the results are two fold, when built to these standards. most engine buliders hatchet crap together to factory spec( which is junk) or not even up to that. in other words if you think you really did something by just replaceing rings & bearings and adding a bigger turbo, etc. and went a 12.50 you didn't. focus on the horsepower in proper and accurate machining ( like we do) in the basic engine. ( align honing, block true decking, useing a torque plate and a "proper" wall finish, accurate valve jobs etc.) and you will relize how much "hidden" horsepower is in your combo, that you and yor other engine builder didn't even know was there. trust me not all machine work is the same just becauswe it "fits" doesn't mean it's right and we pride ourselve's on our high standards.
