Over the years I’ve jumped my lawn mowers, jet skis, and motorcycles using my vehicle with no trouble. Last night my neighbor could not get his mower started and asked me for help. The battery was low and turned the mower over very slow. I pulled the plugs and poured a little gas in each and then jumped it off of his truck. It fired up and ran great. We let it run for a while (1/2 hour) and then turned it off. When I went to start it again the battery was completely dead. I mean nothing. Prior to jumping it, it would turn over slow but now it wouldn’t even turn on the lights. It’s a 12 volt system so what gives?

the battery was already almost dead before the jumpstart.. it just died the rest of the way.
there is something wrong in the charging system of the mower.

Nice Ronnie.

I think I jumped our lawn mowers a couple of times with a car or truck. I was just fast about it . Whats the worse that can really happen, besides the battery exploding and acid going everywhere.

agreed with above, the battery either finally dropped a cell or the charging system is not operating up to par.

you can jump the mower with a auto, as long as the lawn mover is a 12 volt system. I have done it many times, I actually jumped the buick with the mower this spring. HA! It just wasn't turning over fast enough to start, and reved the mower to the moon and it started right up.

There is usually a 20 amp fuse in the ignition circuit that is prone to blowing.

i gotta confess something- when i first saw this thread in the list, i thought there was going to be beer and ramps involved..
