There is no way to identify it with those pics. Pull the conpressor cover off and measure the
Inducer and give a close uphold of it and the turbine exducer and we can give you more info. All I see is an e cover turbo with a .63'tnetics ex housing in yr pics.

Hi Bison

I am new at the turbo game, so bare with me. I have measured the INDUCER (small Blade) and it measures 20 mm on the EXDUCER (long blade) 3.5 mm. Let me know if this is the correct way to measure

I took a few more shots with the compressor cover off. Let me know if this helps

Thanks for the help.

Kerry

You need to measure the diameter of the inducer. Looks like a t04e 60 trim compressor. Should be about 58mm.

the words "inducer" and "exducer" refer to the path of air or exhaust.

So, on a compressor, the inducer is the intake path, so measure across the face of the compressor wheel from tip to tip of the big blades.

Hi All

I have measured a few different places and have taken pictures.

Thanks for the assistance

Hi All

It doesn't appear the exducer measurement was made in the correct place..... it needs to be the widest part of two opposing vanes.... near the backing plate of the center section.... your pic looks like one of the jaws might be on the right spot, but the other one is not..... at least from what I can make out (that pic was a little fuzzy).

Here are a few more pictures. I have tried to take some clear one. Let me know if this is enough.

Once again, Thank You For Your Assistance

What about the hot side measurements and pics?

The cold size "could be" based on your measurements a TE34 - rated for 545HP or high 11's.
56.55mm is close to 2.23"
74.85mm is close to 2.95"

I know this is not the accurate way to measure this, but I am trying to get a rough idea what I have. I bought it from a board member and was told it was equivalent to a TE44.

I would like to get injectors and a chip from TT and would like to give as much correct info on the turbo as possible.

You need to hold the caliper on the tip of the blade to get the measurement. Im still saying Garrett T04E 60 trim compressor and what appears to be a copy of a Garrett stage 5 turbine but definitely not a Garrett wheel. 10 blades with little curve to them and the housing bore is close to what i have here that are contoured to stage 5 wheels. It needs a lot more converter than a 44 with the stage 5 turbine. Kind of a mismatch of wheels imo. Its the same as a PT51. With just a switch to a 60-1 (same as a PT52) or a GT35R (same as a 6152) compressor you can get a lot more mass flow potential.

545hp isnt going to happen on an LC2 with a TE34. Ive yet to see a TE44 even come close to that. Regardless it would still support mid to low 11 sec power.

That 545 was straight off the old precision chart.... while I agree... it should go low 11's. They say high 11's but I think it "could" go quicker than that with the right parts and enough boost.

I'd get 60's and a TT chip.... wideband chip if you can afford it and a wideband. You will have plenty of growing room with that setup. Eric's chips have plenty of adjustablility... if you tell him TE44 (probably much more common) and the boost number you want.... he will put enough fuel in there.... you can tweak the fuel in the chip to make it spot on.

I see capability of 11.50's on mid 20's boost......with a sub 1.6 60' time...

Thank You to all three for you help on this, it is muchly appreciated. I have one more turbo tech question and one question to pick your brains

I have checked side to side play at the top of the shaft on the cold side and have come up with about 0.51mm of side to side play and no end to end play to speak of. Is this with in specs that can be tolerated ??

Also: In your humble opinions, and you guy’s well knowing these cars, is this a turbo that can be easily dialled in and is this a turbo that will be for a guy that does not want to have to turn wrenches every time the key is turned? Or should I get something different to learn on? (Precision 5831) I am not heading to the track and it will be a street car to play in, but would like it to be reasonably fast

I am running a Gen2 with a 3.5 MAF, 2800 stall and a little work done inside the tranny. The motor is new and has some work done but nothing major, I believe mostly a bigger cam ( no specs right now). 3” down pipe and plan on putting 60# and a TT chip with Alcohol Injection

Buicks are ALL new to me, and I feel it better to ASK and stay running then TRY IT and explode.

Once again Thank You for your time

Kerry

Id run it. It may be a little lazy depending on the converter design.

I concurr with bison..... run it...... by the time you wear it out, you will probably have a good idea of what is the best turbo for your new goals.... for now... run it and enjoy it.....

Thanks guy's. So if i tell Eric this is close to a TE44 i should be fine, and adjust from there with the Gen2?

PS: Convertor is an 9" Art Car 2800 stall NL
