Can I purchase just the spring, and install it, or do I have to buy an entire HD wastegate?

You do'nt want to increase boost with a heavier spring. This leads to boost creep. Get the R.J.C. bost controller.

The heavy duty spring will enable the puck to stay closed longer under high back pressure. The boost controller will not stop the actuator from opening.

If you need a stronger wastegate, email us sales@bnecustoms.com, we have them.

Thanks!

The heavy spring will limit how fast and far the wastegate will open, causing boost spike during a shift and boost creep in high gear. The whole point of the boost controler is that it does stop the wastegate from opening until the pressure acting on the controller overcomes the spring pressure inside the controller. This does two things. The first thing it does is not allow any pressure to reach the wastegate actuator until the desired boost pressure is reached. The good thing about this is that the actuator wont open partially as the boost pressure rises. It can't open untill the disired boost is reached. If any exhaust energy is allowed to bypass the turbine, when the actuator partially opens as boost climbs, boost come up slower. Because of the design of this controller your boost will rise faster. You'll notice the difference. The secound good thing about this method of controlling boost is that since the controller is in charge of the pressure that the actuator sees, you do'nt need a strong spring to make more boost. Since you can now make boost with the weakest spring possible, the wastegate will be able to open faster. This will controll boost spike during a gear shift. The other good news is that the wastegate will be able to open farther, which will controll boost creep in high gear. This is my real life experience. It is not a theory or guess. I do'nt sell this device,so I have nothing to gain, monitarally,if you choose to use it.
