sigh...

thanks for any input guys

As mentioned on the lspbc forum, Jack Laswell locally, or if you want to haul it, go to Mike Kurtz down in Houston. Don't go to Rock-On up by Denton, you may not get your car back.

im gonna give him a call.. if i had the time i'd just do it myself but... yeah.. i dont

i was wondering if it might be better to buy the hard parts from someone here on the board and just have jack assemble it? dunno..

I know Jack will use parts from PTS if you tell him to, he is familar with them.

nice... just wondering what this is gonna cost me :o

For the record, where is the Jack Laswell you mentioned located? I was expecting to use Phoenix if needed but now I'm not so sure. I have a HD TH350 from them in my 72GS350 that was installed in ~1993 and it still runs and shifts well. I'm at 275-300 HP and not 400TQ though-and no stall conv-minimal racing type activity.

Im in the middle of a huge mess w/pheonix trans over my power stroke F350 trans. HORRIBLE co. to deal with. Local better buis. b. has 41 complaints in the last 3 months. Stay away from pheonix trans.........

dear god no. please dont use phoenix.

when we worked up my rebuild. i told them exactly what i wanted. overkill. something that would hold up behind a mid 11 second turbo buick.

at the time the car was a mid 13 second hotair. stock with open exhaust and 17psi boost.

and what did i get? a stock rebuild. it went back to them THREE TIMES.

I have a 94 Ram Air T/A with mild mods to it. It makes roughly 420 crank HP and 355 at the wheels. I had my first rebuild with Phoenix after they were recommended by a friend (not so sure bout that anymore). At the time the car made around 300 rear wheel and Phoenix assured me they could easily build me a track worthy 4L60E and told me it would handle 500 horsepower. 6 months later it crashed. They rebuilt it under warranty after some lengthy debate. 4 weeks later it crashed again. This time they told me I had been doing Neutral drops. I argued to no avail with the jackass they had running the place and finally they agreed to do the repair again. I installed a Precision Industries Vigilante converter in it about 4 weeks after this rebuild at THEIR recommendation. 3 weeks later....crashed again. This time they told me the converter had broken internally and caused the tranny to fail. I sent the converter back to PI to see what the F*** was up. PI told me the converter looked like it was brand new...nothing wrong with it. Phoenix told me PI didnt know what they were talking about. After telling me they were going to charge me 1800 for the rebuild I had an attorney contact them telling them legal action was being prepared. They repaired it under warranty. I had PI restall the converter for my Buick and found another converter for the T/A. THAT tranny worked for about a year. When it crashed again (expectedly) I just bought a used 4L60E from someone on CamaroZ28.com and installed it myself. It has worked fine for over a year now. Phoenix transmission is one of the worst places I have seen yet...their customer service is next to worthless...and they LIE out the ass. I would not send a go cart to them.
Nick knows my history with Phoenix. They are crooks, liars, and they damn sure cant build a transmission.
