Can you put a 86/87 chip into hotair w/out mods

I know this may be a stupid question but Ive never heard anyone else ask it. I was just curious if you could put a 86/87 modded chip in a 84/85 car and not have to have any mods? Just wondering this because it seems that 86/87 chips are more readily available.

No, you can't There is a procedure on gnttype.org for swapping to the 86/87 ecm so you can use the chips/better datalogging and so on. A quick search should have shown this and more.
