There's a chunk broken off the cylinder wall skirt on number 2. Would you still be able to use this block for a complete high power rebuild? It is a 109 standard virgin block that was not run hard at all. Can the engine builder either machine off the surrounding areas or can it be fixed? I have the piece that broke off.

I'm sure it can be used, but I feel that the block is the foundation of everything so why spend money on a bad foundation when for $300 you can get a better one.

Just not where to skimp in my opinion on a bunch of possible variables that can happen down the road. As far as sleeving the block how much are you going to spend on a sleeve and the machine work (if done properly) to repair a block vs. how much a good one will cost.

i think as long as the rings don't go over the broken part and as long as the sharp edges are taken down so they don't provide places for cracks to start, it would be good to go.
