boost

I have never had a car yet with an external gate or internal gate that I can keep under 20 pounds.. all the way from my 44 to the 70 turbo I run now I have fought this on two different cars over the years. Ported the WG hole as much as possible, on and on.

So what do I do? I just run alky all the time and keep the timing back a little. Finally gave up and just stuck with big boost and had fun.

However, when I got my most recent car I was able to keep the boost down when I had 3" single shot. Once I went to dual 2 3/4" exhaust I was unable to keep the boost down. This showed me that the Duals flowed more than the single shot.

Again I we have big air here in Alaska, thus making lots of boost.

Thanks for the reply Dennis.
I thought of going with Alky, but want to keep that as last resort. I am getting tired of putting 100 octane fuel in the car just to be on the safe side though. If I can't get a fix, I will go to Alky.
Thanks again,
Mike

For what it's worth.....

I have both of the same "problems" you are having on my newly rebuilt (this winter) Limit TA60 and new HD actuator. I can't get below 21psi, that is with the wg rod all the way out to zero tension, then adding 1/2 turn.

Also, I'm still creeping a bit and when I sent it in, Chopper felt it was because I had the stock actuator and the hole was 1" as mentioned above. I notice the creep more on this baseline 21ish setting than when I had it turned up some. Tends to creep 2psi or so. If I set it to 24 it will more or less stay right there.

Un hooked waste gate today and went for run on Interstate. A lot of memorial day traffic and I could not stay in it long before catching traffic.
Built boost slowly for sure, have not been able to keep my foot in it for so long. Built boost up to 10-12 lbs then would shift due to RPM's. Would build boost to same again before shift. I did not have time to stay into it due to speed and catching traffic. Boost curve on DL looked like a loose cloths line out behind a old house. Up at shift then down and build back up to next shift. THink boost would have gone higher if I was able to stay in it as it was still on a slow build when I had to let out.
Guess this was not a good test as I was not able to stay into it long enough to see where the boost build would stop.
If anyone interested, I can send DL file to look at if you can tell me how to do that.
Thanks for all the comments guys. Maybe I can get a handle on this thing some day and keep boost down around 16. Or maybe not.......
