I have a 1987 Buick Turbo T, I have had an on going problem, when I punch (at anytime) it will bog way down like I have no power what so ever. I can ease into the boost and the car does fine. We recently changed the plugs and that seemed to help a little. This also happens a little bit more when the car is hot. I have also had problems with my car being hot. Usually runs about 210. Any ideas on my problems??????

Are you still running the stock MAF?

I would think that could cause it or your coil pack is getting heat soaked from the temps your running under the hood.

Good Luck

Do the little things first. Check fuel pressure, change fuel filter, verify FP is rising with boost. If you have an ohmmeter check the posts of the coil pack for 11-13k of resistance.

Also check for vacuum leaks and make sure you dont have a crack in the drivers side header

I am kinda new to my car and I'm not 100% sure what numbers I need to look for. I have a scanmaster, that only works half of the time.

Ok guys here is my update. We checked the fuel pressure and it was at 49 psi @ 7 lbs of boost. My husband noticed I was getting some Crankcase ventilation from the filters on my valve covers? Any ideas?? or is this normal? We also noticed during WOT the oil pressure drops to nothing and then immediatley goes back up.

Just to give you an idea on my car. It is new to us, we have had it since May 2002. It was recently rebuilt by Houston Motorcraft, it currently has about 7000 miles on the rebuild. '

Here are my specs......

forged TRW pistons, 210/205 GSCA cam, lifters, rocker arms, double roller timing chain, o'ringed heads, balanced rotating assembly, Ported and polished iron heads, port matched intake,KB oil booster plate,42# injectors with Cotton performance matching chip, Kirban coated headers, Hooker down pipe, ATR stainless dual exhaust, four core radiator, Oil cooler, Trans cooler,Armstrong fuel pump, hot wire kit, boost enhancer, stock turbo, stock intercooler, K&N cone filter. The tran has a shift kit and new rebuild, stock converter, drive shaft loop, trunk cross brases. Bilstein shocks on rear, stock 3.42 posi, Aluminum drums.

DON'T drive it with low or 0 WOT oil pressure!!!

I seized up a big block that way. No fun on the highway!

What is oil pressure at idle and around 30mph?

Mechanical or electrical oil pressure gauge?

 It don't sound good....

I believe it is mechanical. Oil pressure is around 30-40 psi at idle, I will pay attention next time when I am going 30.

OIL press?

As was said, B4.. PARK it B4 you fry the engine.. a combo of 210* and low/no oil pressure WILL ruin the engine!!
Loss of PSI when punched tells me there's a good chance the oil pick up is either loose on the block or has fallen off, or is partially plugged up.
The hi temps could be a headgasket, or a multitiude of other items.
FIRST priority! Go back to the shop that built the engine and let them tell you why the oil pressure is gone!

A cam going flat is another possibility.

:( :( :(

Ok, what is you fuel pressure with vacuum line off at idle?????? I don't know why anyone hasn't asked you this before now.......This would make perfect sense as to your "going no where" when you put it on the floor, but it will when you ease into it................As far as the 0 oil pressure, I would lean towards maybe the loose pick-up idea.............

I checked the fuel pressure with the vacuum off about two weeks ago, It was 45psi, i believe but I will recheck tommorrow since it has been a couple of weeks and I probley have forgotten.

Now we have a mysterious knock on the passangers front side of the engine. We took off the valve covers oil does no come out until car has ran for about 2 minutes. Can't figure this knock out though. Any ideas? We thought at first it was the rockers or valve springs, We traded sides with the rockers and the noise seems to of got worse on the same side. We aren't sure about the springs yet though. Any ideas will be much appreciated......

knocking?

You havent been driving it the last 10 days knowing you have an oil pressure problem have you? If so goodbye bearings
