Brought the car home from storage ran fine. Driving around for awhile and started running weird. What it does while rolling into the throttle it will start to sputter like it has a 2 step. This is all with it not even trying to get into boost. The only thing I did was remove intercooler fan because I caught the shroud and it broke the fan. I did this incident lasst year. It seems to me like the maf is taking a dump because while driving I have seen it hit 255 without even getting on it. I would like to know if there is anything I should look for because I don't like being a parts hanger. When I lightly tap the maf it cuts out. When the maf is disconnected it still has the stumbling problem. I repalced the o2 sensor with a Denso because it seemed like it was lazy. Here are some scanmaster readings at idle after driving it around. TIA

MAF is dead... idle af (mass air flow) way too high for idle... causing ecm to add fuel, causing high 02, and int/blm to cut fuel due to too rich mixture...

Cross your fingers with a remanned unit at the big box stores (might go thru a couple to find a good one), spend the $$ at Kirban's, or bite the bullet and swap to a lt1/ls1/maf translator combo...

I was thinking of upgrading to lt-1 with a translator. I didn't know Kirbans sold reman ones are they good or just a crap shoot like parts stores?

That's a good question.... wish I knew the answer.... I'm sure Dennis would stand behind them.... but shipping back and forth would not be fun... maybe someone else will chime in here with an answer... I'll say one thing.... for $189 the Kirban re-man unit BETTER work right...

When Conley 's was in business they could do a decent remanned MAF for a Buick. Was even close to the correct calibration. I ran one for 6 years until it wigged out on me then took the plunge. It wasn't that expensive either seems like around $40 or so

LT1 + Trans

I borrowed a translator so I could race and bought a new LT1 MAF and with the heated O2, the car has never run better on the street. Probably about the same at the track. The 3.5" MAF I tried flowed too much with my TE44 and stock heads, upper, etc ie boost stack was MUCH worse with the 3.5" vs the 3" LT1 style. Go with that combo unless you want to do it in the future when your new new precision units that is supposed to eliminate boost stack.
