Im searching for a TB and some of the better deals i been finding are a way away from me in NJ! Not too far but far enough for me not to wanna risk something happening on the 7hr plus ride back to NJ! Im just curious who has used car haulers !! What company?? Open/Closed? how did they price it ? On amount of miles traveled? Where to and from? And most of all how much ? And how was your expiriance using a car hauler? Would you have rather driven the car back home?

Any info and feedback is greatly appreciated
thanks guys
Phill

The only problem I've seen from them is that the fender wells on the open ones r right up close to the doors making it extremely hard to get out of the car without banging door on trailer. I used one to get my Gn from virgina and that was a 7hr ride. Pulled great, as far as a price, I know a guy who rents them and he gave it to me for a 2 day rental for like $80 or something

Hope that helps

Are you asking about hiring a company that hauls autos? Or renting a trailer to haul it yourself?

When I bought my GN I had to have it shipped from South Carolina to Los Angeles, CA. No way in hell was I gonna make that drive! It was a bit of a headache finding a company but I was very happy with the drivers/truck I ended up with. They were very professional, had a very nice rig, and reasonably priced ($900 closed trailer.) I used them again and referred other business to them as well, so I had a great experience overall. I'd refer them to you but they only work southern routes.

A couple years ago I used found a hauler through a friend of a friend. They had a 3 place enclosed trailer at the time. It was $1.00 per mile loaded at pickup, and unloaded at delivery, door to door. It took about 2 weeks to get the pickup scheduled.
Worked out great. It was not a major "chain" hauler. I know fuel prices have gone up a bit since then, (alright maybe quite a bit.) PM me if you want their number and you can see if they are still doing it and when they are in your area.

The alternate route might be renting a hauler from uhaul or the like.
I think last time I rented one a few months ago it was about $70 for the day. If you go this route, you might want to go see the renters stock to make sure they don't have the trailers that have been hacked up. I've seen some electrical nightmares on them too from people splicing and such.

I tried to use one but after two weeks I just said to heck with it and went and got it myself. If you decide you are going to use one I suggest hiring a company that has their own trucks instead of a brokerage. But as the saying goes.... if you want something done right.......do it yourself.

All opinions taken!! I just seen a few cars out in Ohio , which is like 7.5hrs away from me!!I just found out my buddy has his own car trailor he would be willing to let me use!! So if i end up heading out west a bit for a car!! I will be driving!! Probly save me some extra cash!!
thanx fellas!!

I'm actually going to hire Turboc87gn to haul my T-type from MO to VA. He quoted me the same ball park for an open carry door to door as the 'major' haulers did. Plus he understands exactly what the car means to me....I feel a lot better about using a hauler this time then I did last time. I actually ended up just dragging it myself to get it to MO because I just didn't feel confident with the companies.

I would just go get a uhaul trailer or better yet borrow your buddies and go get it. I went about 6hrs away to get my car this past october. Take a buddy or 2 with you and make a little adventure out of it.

movers

Most of the major moving van lines have a car hauler division/ capability. Usually they have better communication and insurances available.
