car will shift form P to D withOUT pressing brake?

I thought that you have to press the brake to switch from P to R or any other gear? For some reason I can just move the shifter from P to any gear with out hitting the brake. How do I fix this?

Whadaya think ya got a new car there Don't think that happened until sometime in the 90's. Now if you can move the shifter from park to D w/o pressing the button in, then that can be fixed.

Yea, The brake pedal shifter release happened about 10 years after your buick did. LOL

Even if they had it, why would you want to fix it? Ever try getting one of those into neutral with a dead battery?

As my name suggests, I tow for a living. Those shifter locks are a royal PITA! I guess the factory engineers had nothing better to do that day

Oh well. I wanted to put one of those brake anit-theft devices that holds the brake pedal from being pressed. Thanks for the replies.
